Mahavir
According to Jain tradition Mahavir was the 24th Tirhankara. He was born into a royal family to King Siddartha and Queen Trishala. Before his birth it is said that he brought wealth and prosperity to the entire kingdom. It was noticied that there was was an increase in all good things, like the abundant bloom of beautiful flowers.

At the age of thirty Mahavira renounced his kingdom and family, gave up his worldly posessions, and spent twelve years as an ascetic. During these twelve years he spent most of his time meditating. He gave utmost regard to other living beings, including humans, animals and plants, and avoided harming them.

He transcended at the age of 74 in the year 468 BC near Rajgir, Bihar.

Asha Sheth, performing Mahavir Puja at Lighthouse Center Inc.Asha’s teaching style is one of Love, care, patience and dedication to her students and she makes sure all of her students understand what she teaches. This ability draws students to her and has lead to her teaching at the Lighthouse Center.

She is a student of Gurudev Shri Chitrabhanuji and has known him for more than 40 years.

Born in Mumbai, India, she was raised in a Jain family. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Mumbai, India and taught for one year in Mulund, Moti Pachan High School.

In 1973 she came to the United States to join her husband, Narendra Sheth and they have two sons and a daughter.

Her knowledge of Jain Dharma came at an early age and she taught this dharma to students at the Jain Study Class in several places in Mumbai.
